Hi from Hong Kong!

Many greetings from a hot and humid Hong Kong! I will try to keep my international friends updated too so lets write in English for a change. For those who don't know, I will be on internship in the Finnish embassy in Jakarta until end of February 2010 and will hopefully see what embassy work and life in South East Asia is all about.

First little summary for grandma: Paasin onnellisesti perille Hong Kongiin, odottelen viela pari tuntia Jakartan lentoa ja illalla oon vihdoinkin perilla!

My big trip to Indonesia started on August 27th from Helsinki from where i flew to Paris and stayed there 22 hours for a stopover. I stayed the night in the loveliest Parisian home ever with my Kiwi darling Aurelie, had a good croissant and we even drank a bottle of red wine, probably my last wine for a while. In the evening i hopped on a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong, which went really fine and I even got some 6 hours of sleep, thanks to the empty seat next to me which allowed some kind of sleeping position. Cathay Pacific is the airline of the year 2009 and was really nice indeed, even if I still prefer the service of the nice and helpful Finnair staff :)

I arrived to Hong Kong today at 1pm local time and my flight to Jakarta is in a couple of hours, again with Cathay Pacific. When going out of the airplane here in Hong Kong the outside air felt incredibly hot and humid! And now when travelling 4 hrs 40 min south it's supposed to get even hotter :) But it's going to be great to arrive to the final destination and to get some proper sleep. The Finnish embassy is going to send their driver to pick me up from the airport which is really wonderful, so I don't have to work out the Asian taxi system just yet ;)

Unfortunately for me, I can't enjoy the free wifi of Hong Kong airport with my laptop as it needs power and I wasn't prepared with the proper adaptor, but one of the airport restaurants offers 30 mins free internet if you buy their products. So I bought a coke and in an evil way sneakily saw the password when the restaurant staff came to the computers to type it in. So I'll be surfing here until boarding time :) till later and have a great weekend!
